Great atmosphere. Boring 10k route.
Expected a trail run. Too much road.
David Ian Johnson
Great first half marathon, nice to have the facilities after to have a drink and relax.

My first half
Challenging in places for my first half, with 3 big hills, great route an additional water station would have been helpful as was a hot day, overall great event & would do it again!
The organisation was brilliant particularly the car parking
Charles Scott
Great event, Marshalls and organisation brilliant.
A lovely course, possibly need to emphasise that there is a lot of trail. But I thought it was excellent and would do again.
Andrew Sheridan
Great event
Nicola Tester
Really well organised, in fact perfect.
I couldn't fault anything, it was my first ever 10k race and I will definitely book more, thank you!

My first race
I enjoyed the route and luckily there was some shade as it was so warm. I found some bottlenecking at the beginning so it took me a while to get into a rhythm. Nearly went the wrong way somewhere towards the end so it could have done with an extra sign. Otherwise, Marshalls were excellent, helpful and encouraging. This was my first race and the atmosphere was great.
Lucy Harrington
Lovely event with great perks after the race-sauna/massage/sound bath!
Alison Oates
The organisation was very good , particularly the car parking !
Pia Amsler
Wonderful run, just the right mix of trail and road
Superb venue, scenery and atmosphere! This was my first Macknade HM, bur will be there next year! My only niggle is the fact that there were only three water stations. Knowing about the heat wave, you should have been more flexible and added two more - but I fully appreciate the staffing issues involved
Chris Nichols
Great scenery/challenging course. Definitely recommend!!
Done this for the 2nd year in a row and will happily do it again.
Most of my running races have been through sporting events and all have been well organised and highly recommend them
Graham Boggia
Great course.

Challenging course with great views
Great day. The route was well marshalled and sign posted. We had marshalls looking out for vehicles on the road and the atmosphere was friendly and encouraging.
The day was quite hot and we could really have done with an extra water stop on top of the three places around the route.
The medal was really well designed, hardly a deal breaker either way but the little touches are what make the difference.
I would do this route again for the half marathon but perhaps make sure there was more hill training in my lead up!

A half marathon every runner should try!!
The Macknade Half Marathon is the jewel in the crown of the region’s running calendar.
Set in the heart of rural Kent, the course winds through some of the county’s most beautiful rolling countryside, offering a truly memorable race-day experience.
Cross the finish line and return to a vibrant event village, where exceptional food and drink await to help you celebrate your achievement

Use this as a template for all running events- perfect
Not a single downside - great challenging course ( nice variation of terrain) - perfect number of friendly marshals, water points , signage - this is my 3rd time doing it - just gets better each year ( perfect weather / parking too)

Could be better
Marshalling wasn’t great at crucial points and with at least one other experienced runner went wrong which added half a mile. Start was also very congested down to a very slow single file.
Overall though the course was fast for a multi and flowed well and enjoyed up to the 8 mile point.
Hi Ray. Thanks for the feedback. No other reviews have highlighted marshalling issues. We do know one was missing at the 8 Mile point and are looking into that. Thanks for taking the time to complete the review though.

Fun route, alot more off road than I was expecting
Pros: Alot of effort put in from the organisers, fun route, friendly and sociable runners.
Cons: No headphones was a first for me, wasn't a fan of that. Alot more trail running than I was expecting too!
Paul Bartlett
well done goof choice of course and venue
lots of parking

Lovely 10k but too hot for me
Beautiful scenery, very well marshalled, excellent surfaces to run on and not too hilly.
The start was very crowded so we were shuffling along very slowly to begin with. Perhaps an extra wave might have helped. But all in all a good 10k . Can you make sure it's cooler next year!
