What is an Aquathlon?

This is an often asked question. The simple explanation is that it is like a triathlon without the bike bit! You swim (with a choice of distance), and then run 5k. We also offer the opportunity to split it into a team event - so one person can swim, the other can run.

Do I need any specialist equipment?

We would recommend investing in some quality swimming gear or a wetsuit. Although the sea temperature should be pretty good in August we are hardly the mediterranean! You will also need a good set of goggles. We provide swim hats which you must wear. For the run, just some good running shoes and comfortable shorts/leggings and a t-shirt or vest.

How far is the swim?

The swim is in the sea and we are offering 200m or 400m. In all instances the run is 5k.

Do I have to do both the swim and the run?

Well, it is an Aquathlon, so as an individual yes, but we are offering team entries too. Maybe you are good at running but not good at swimming or the other way around. Find a buddy who is good at what you are not and make a team - one person will swim, the other will run.
